The Secret Crush Part II

Natasha is a regular at Emirates First Class, traveling more frequently than vagabonds, en route to her latest travel transitions, she was escorted by Aman – her concierge. Unaware of his infatuation for her, she acts indifferent to him. Aman is a persuasive young lad, who is deeply smitten by this sexy siren, Natasha. All he wanted was her attention! To know more, read Part 1 of this story, here.

Aman was gleeful, his benign plan was executed well. She finally noticed and looked straight into his eyes. Her touch was ecstatic, a soft brush could give an indication of how blissful it would be to hold her in his arms. Seeing her gorgeous face so close was a breathtaking experience. He noticed she was not wearing any makeup, just some kohl and nude lipstick her lips were fine pieces of art, thin, soft, and made with perfection.

While retreating from the aircraft, all he could think was her bewildered reaction, she didn’t anticipate the closeness, and her heart skipped a beat when he fastened her belt. It was like a victory leap, without leaving any traces of his premeditated plan, he got her glimpse up close and personal. ‘I need to take this forward, she didn’t flinch away from me’, he made a mental note to himself with a hint of a jubilant smile.

Miles away somewhere, Emran was waiting by the exit, Natasha got a glimpse of the black beast as she came out from the VIP exit. His friendly face shared a glint of smile seeing her back to the bay, and asked, ‘How was your journey, Madamji?’

‘It was good, Emran, thank you. How was your daughter’s wedding?’ she questioned.

‘Wonderful Madamji, she was looking like a heroin in your gifted dress,’ said an elated father.

Turning the wheels into a huge vintage-styled mansion, Emran stopped the car by the lobby for Natasha to descend. ‘I will be by the garage, Madam’ he informed with a humble nod.

Scaling the steps, Natasha enters the very familiar lobby. An entourage of helpers welcomed her with warm smiles, she eyes a large bouquet of purple iris carnations, with a card popping out, ‘Welcome Home, Love. See you in the evening’. She read the card peacefully with a fleeting smile and kept it in the confines of her handbag, climbing towards the bedroom on the first floor.

Her room occupies a large poster bed with white sheen curtains looking over the seashore and palm groves. She deeply inhaled the acquainted smell of lavenders and gardenia, her favourite smell. I need a warm bath to wash off the traveling stress, and a quick nap before the evening, she thought heading straight to the grand bathroom.

She started to fill the bath tub, a few drops of essential oils to relax the nerves. Coming out of her clothes she entered the inviting warm bath, she was finally at ease and in her territory. Her eyes were feeling heavy when she propped her head by the support and started scrubbing her body. Inadvertently she rubbed her wrist repeatedly, the same spot touched by the airport guy yesterday. She wasn’t naïve to the sexual charms, but this touch was incorrupt, it’s a novelty.

It was around 5 in the evening when her staff brought tea in her room, she gazed over the horizon from the large French windows of her bedroom. She picked a magazine from the stack kept by the coffee table, when her eyes caught the GQ.

‘Interesting, let’s see what do you have for me today, huh!’ She turned a few pages uninterestingly, the same rhetoric ads, faces, fashion, nothing fresh or original when she stumbled on a face, er… brown eyes. Her thoughts were back in the aircraft, those two glistening brown eyes – she couldn’t stop herself from thinking about his eyes, deep brown with a hint of sheepish ploy, her lips twitched in a smile.

‘What’s happening with you, Natasha! get a grip!! He is just a boy, leave him be’, she said piercingly to herself.

Will Natasha’s troubled mind get any solace? Aman is planning to take this demeanor to the next level, let’s see what happens next tomorrow.

Man from the Shadows!

It was a crisp winter morning, fighting her way from fog and cold sharp breeze, Vijaya continued with her brisk walk while listening to Pink Floyd on her ear-pods. She is following the same route and routine for the last two decades, her dedication is inspirational for many.

It was a pleasant morning, Vijaya loves when the cold breeze touches her cheeks while running. On her third round, she spotted a tall man standing by the birch tree. Strange, no one comes to this stadium until 7 am on the cold winter days.

Moving closer to the tall figure, she slowed down a bit. The man was 6 feet or above, huge built up with attire, not from the nearby native areas. His silhouette resembled that of an Afghan or Sindh province.

What a ‘pathan’ would do here in South India, that too this early on a cold morning, she was thinking to herself. When she took a turn towards the figure, a cold wave hit her face and chest. She could feel the chill in her spine and her lips turned dry, slowly damp fog engulfed her from nowhere.

She muted the music and slowly walked towards the tall man, standing by the 200-year-old birch tree. She called out to the man thinking if he has lost his way. No answer! She decided to move a little closer and look at his face.

Swiftly she reached the tree trunk and called him again, ‘Hello! Who are you?’

Still no reply, Vijaya was apprehensive to move any closer and hence decided to check from the other side. She reluctantly moved to the side and tried to catch his glimpse. Her heart was fluttering like an anxious bird in the cage.

He was wearing a torn pathani kurta-salwar with a traditional Afghani turban, the whole place was smelling like death. Scared to move a muscle, she mustered some courage and called him again. His torso moved a bit, Vijaya was losing nerves now, she clutched her phone so hard near the chest. Suddenly a crow came falling and shrilling towards her in full force, she ducked to save the attack.

Vijaya screamed at the top of her lungs and shut her eyes so tight thinking it’s her end. A few moments later when she opened her eyes, the tall man figure was gone.

Bewildered she looked around, but it was all calm and empty. She looked at the spot where the mystery man was standing, he was gone leaving just two foot-marks.

Disclaimer – This post is written in the memory of my favorite actor and a great human Irrfan Khan. This is a work of fiction. Names, characters, businesses, places, events, and incidents are either the products of the author’s imagination or used in a fictitious manner. The pubic address system at the airport announced a two-hour delay for the New Delhi flight. Shruti has been stuck at the airport for more than 1.5 hours now. Disappointed with further delay, she got up to check out the book store near gate number 5.

Scanning the books stacked chronologically at the store, she picked up a few thriller fiction books. Once stocked with brand new books to read and kill the waiting time, she headed to get a hot cuppa. ‘One espresso with double sugar cubes, please.’ she ordered.

Handing her order, the shopkeeper welcomed another guest with a smile, ‘Welcome Sir, what would you like to have today?’

Shruti looked at the gentleman who just entered the cafe while managing all the things in her hands. ‘May I help you?’ the man asked politely.

‘Thanks, I will manage.’ she replied trying to clutch books that are adamant to fall from her hands. She moved towards the side stool, but the coffee and books both fell down ditching her efforts.

Seeing her fidgeting the man helped her with the things, once settled he asked the waiter to get two coffees for them.

‘Hi, I am Rajith Ratha.’

‘Hello, Rajith. Thank you for helping out, the delays have made me crazy. Well, I am Shruti Das. Are you traveling to New Delhi too?’

‘Yes, but Delhi seems a long fetched destination with extended waiting now.’

There it began, two strangers met at an airport and connected instantly. Life provided a chance to fall in love and they happily took the plunge committed for life.

Family, children, work, and life everything was going well when Rajith was informed about an alien that invaded his body. Life took an abrupt halt and they struggle to fight this disease together. Medical science and treatments left them long ago, but love and hope were still intact.

Shruti never let the fear enter her system, she had a plan to save her love from this deadly disease. Specialized treatments abroad, they visited the best experts to cut the threat down, but life had other plans.

Rajith left for heavenly abode leaving his family behind defeated, and heartbroken. No one was ready to accept the truth, a cruel joke of high heavens. Shruti was in constant denial when she found a letter written in Rajith handwriting in his desk’s drawer.

‘I will always be alive in your hearts and memories.’
